Fruit + Nut Bars
My favorite energy snack is a fruit and nut bar. I usually go for a Lara Bar because their ingredients are so simple, but I don’t always love their flavor combos so I decided to make some of my own…and I encourage you to do the same!
They are so simple. Just watch the video for how I create my own flava.
Down below is the basic recipe that you can jazz up as you see fit. Happy experimenting!
Ingredients
- 1 cup nuts/seeds (preferably raw, unsalted): any combination of: pecans, almonds, walnuts, cashews, peanuts, brazil nuts, macadamia nuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds or flax seeds would be awesome
- 1 cup dried fruit: cranberries, cherries, raisins, apricots, dates, figs, goji berries, prunes… you get the picture.
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1-2 tablespoons honey
Directions
- Put all ingredients in a food processor and mix until all of the ingredients lump together and form one solid mass
- Press the fruit & nut mixture into a container and store in the fridge.
- Cut into bar-size pieces and enjoy!
Optional Add-ins are things like…
-ginger
-pinch of cayenne pepper
-chili powder
-cinnamon
-nutmeg
-cardamom
-vanilla extract
-almond extract
-lime, lemon or orange zest
-coconut
-cacao nibs
That’s just a short list– get creative and put in any flavors that you LOVE.
